From India to California, Harini is a wife and a mother to a beautiful little girl. She was born in Chennai, India and moved after being married in 2012 to the west coast. Props to her husband for letting her come enjoy a little adventure in Bali for 3 weeks. I’m reminded of her each time I look at the magnet on my fridge she gifted us with all the way from India.
My first time to step foot into the Indian Ocean, I had this sweet soul by my side. Soaking up the sunlight and watching the local dogs run by, I got to hear a little snapshot into her life.
The first week, a few of us walked down to the Bali Spirit pool next door to Outpost to get a little rest and relaxation in. After overhearing that she didn’t know how to swim, Patu and Tsholo jumped in. My heart experienced complete joy when I saw this girl get swimming lessons for the first time. I snagged these photographs to capture this girl’s fearlessness. She said, “They made me feel very secure and safe and gave me confidence that they were going to protect me.” Her vulnerability was so beautiful. I will never forget this.
Art is apparently something she just jumped into as well because she was uncontrollably laughing with Effy in the watercolor workshop. Clari was sitting there all beautiful and zen-like so we could paint her portrait and the laughter was unstoppable. I’m sure she wishes I had a picture I could post up here. O wait..thanks to a friend, I do…
Her trip was cut shorter than the rest of us by a week so we threw her a little going away bash and had dinner at Dumbo, an absolutely amazing Italian restaurant. At dinner, she was filled with tears as she expressed her gratitude and said that no one had ever done anything like that for her before.
