We came a long way from this Bulgarian beauty saying she couldn’t understand me for two days after meeting me. This was hilarious and so interesting to me because I thought the slow southern drawl would help a girl out. After spending the weekend with her and Nina on the islands of Nusa Lembongan and Nusa Penida, I think she adapted to my accent quite well while I adapted to her dedicated itinerary.
I decided I didn’t want to plan anything while on this trip and just wanted to cruise along for the ride with all the adventures the other Unsettlers had planned. This was where Maria shined. She lined up the hotel and all of our daily excursions and travel arrangements like a pro.
I enjoyed watching her walk around snapping photos with her fancy camera although I clearly think she belongs in front of the lens. Every time there was a photo opportunity, she would flawlessly strike model status in an instant. It was very impressive. I would look like a flamingo if I tried to strike a sexy pose, majestically awkward.
Maria is an interior designer and has unveiled her entrepreneurial spirit going into business for herself. I took a look into her portfolio of projects and was not surprised by her elegant taste and design. She is quite fancy and doesn’t shy when it comes to quality. There is no hesitation when it comes to what this girl wants. She is built for success and I live in awe of her go-getter attitude and mentality.
I was so grateful to have the fearless Maria by my side on the ten hour flight back home from Denpasar to Doha, Qatar. I felt so much comfort with having her right across from me and traveling through the airport on the way home. It was bittersweet as we had to part ways and I would be taking the next 14 hour flight to JFK and then one more before I was finally HOME.
