A mathematician, a chef, and a runner with perseverance, Susan Lindsey, ladies and gentlemen. A middle school Math teacher for 17 years and a warrior for as long as she’s lived! This woman radiates strength, high energy, and comedy. She has a spontaneous soul and is one of the hardest working women I know. I’ve jumped in arctic waters with her for the Polar Plunge, joined a running club she created, and had the pleasure of being her classroom roomie for the last two years due to the flood of 2016.
She has one of the most unique and powerful teaching styles that I encourage you to see. Her way of thinking and ability to engage her students is IMPRESSIVE. She is never short of surprises.
Team teaching with her PIC, Derra Landaiche, will make you want to up your game. Check out this TEAM in ACTION…
Who's Correct with Lind and Land is a strategy these two use that requires students to justify their understanding in order to demonstrate mastery of the learning target. Not to mention, the students highly enjoy telling them who is wrong. “Derra and I competing against each other in class is part of our comedy routine that the kids really benefit from.”
And that’s just a warm up for the comedy you are about to witness…
“I was inspired to create "Little Susie" after I saw a video of my principal Michelle Bourque playing a character when she taught ELA here at Galvez. In the video her character was a middle school student explaining her point of view of a project they were working on. Not only was the video hilarious but I'm certain her students to this day remember the video and remember whatever they learned that day watching the video. That kind of role-playing was just my cup of tea.”
“One of my favorites about teaching is not only connecting with the kids, but making each lesson meaningful to their lives. Laughing, competing, food, acting or role-playing, technology, and physical activity are all a part of life.”
