LADIES AND GENTLEMEN...OOOOO WEEEE...*insert Ciara 'One, Two Step'
DRUMROLL, please! My first SUNDAY SPOTLIGHT features the incredible, book lovin', beat droppin', bear huggin' beast of a teacher, PEGGY WARDELL! She is a lover of flash mobs, lip sync battles, Oreos, and Friday dance parties. Her heart is as BIG as they come and I'm blessed to know such a sweet soul.
She braves the world of teaching middle school ELA and she drives a Jeep. Bonus points! Her classroom makes even the the nonreadin', book hatin' Betty's want to open up a cover. It's our own Barnes and Noble right on campus.
Currently on her 21st year o teaching and she has the energy of a recent graduate. Inspired by an interview she saw many years ago with Maya Angelou, she distinctively remembers her saying,"When a child walks in the room, does your face light up? All they want is for you to see them. Each day you should put forth great effort to SEE a child."
Need some inspiration? READ ON my friends...READ ON!
"I want all of my children seen in their own light and in their own right. Pumping them up and trying to impress upon them that they should take every day as an opportunity to get to another level is big for me. I want them to learn how to believe in themselves. No one gets to sit and not do. No one gets to be "uninvolved". No one gets to sell themselves short."
"Music, humor, food analogies, and "I'm a mom first; then I'm a teacher" talks are what I'm about. Balance- finding it can be a great dance. They are celebrated and they are held accountable for decisions both big and small. And through it all, it's a constant "under construction" kind of place where I hope they can be empowered, feel positive vibes, and form bonds that scream, "GO TEAM!"
UHH..CAN I GET AN AMEN! I mean....DANG! God placed this peach in the right patch! #grateful
And if that wasn't enough to melt your heart, here ya go...
This woman, this mom, this teacher is the BOMB.COM!
